First class passenger Martha Evelyn Stone was awake in her cabin on B-deck when Titanic hit the iceberg. Although concerned, she was told to remain there while the problem was dealt with by the crew. After a long period of time she decided to find out for herself what was happening. She dressed and went out to the passageway where she was met by the daughter of another first class passenger who told her that she should get her life preserver and go to the upper deck. Mrs. Stone and her maid, Amelie, quickly went to the boat deck and boarded lifeboat number six. Both were saved. |
